Romeo and Castle Dominate Pre-Green Stakes at Pin Oak and Spring Gathering Shows!
Winning both the $15,000 added Texas Pre-Green Stake at Spring Gathering Show and the $2,500 Stake at Pin Oak II were Peter Pletcher and Romeo. Currently in his second year of Texas Pre-Green enrollment, Romeo is owned by Shadyside Farm of Magnolia, Texas. Earning a total of $4,793 at Spring Gathering alone, Romeo's total earnings for the season are $6,213, placing him as the current leader for the series. Series-leading rider Pletcher told us, "Every year as the Texas Pre-Green program grows, the horses get better and people get more and more excited about buying horses specifically for the Pre-Green events. It's great to see the success the program has had." Taking Reserve honors at Spring Gathering Show and winning the Stake at Pin Oak I were Jen Alfano and Castle, owned by Sharon O'Neill of Snyder, New York. The six year-old Warmblood gelding is trained by Susan Schoellkopf of SBS Farms. Castle was one of three horses piloted by Jen Alfano, and earned $5,101 for his success at the spring shows in Katy, putting them in second position for the series. Currently leading the Yearling standings, LF Eau My, owned by Kimberly Morgan, won the Yearling class and took Reserve Best Horse at Spring Gathering. This black filly is sired by Escapade and out of Run Lucy Run. Owner Kim Morgan stated, "We are so thrilled that the Super Series Group has created incentive for breeding Hunters and Jumpers. We love raising babies like this filly and watching them grow up into show horses." Also having a great love for raising Hunter and Jumpers, Vicki Hunton of Olde Oaks Farm was the owner of the Spring Gathering Three Year-Old class winner and series leader, Bright & Shiny. Sired by Shine and out of Magic Hostess, this mare was presented by Texas Hunter Breeding supporter Liza Richardson and currently leads the Three Year Old category in the Series. Hunton reports, "I am so excited to see this program help grow breeding Hunters and Jumpers here in Texas and throughout the USA. I think it's going to help not only the breeding business, but the trainers, the horse sales, and the shows. I'm proud to support the program."
